Social anxiety

Social anxiety disorder or social phobia, is a fear of becoming extremely anxious, embarrassed and possibly humiliated in social situations. A person who suffers from social anxiety tends to think that other people are better at public speaking, socialising and mingling with others than themselves. The person often feels very self-conscious and uncomfortable in the company of others. This can manifest itself in various ways such as being afraid to talk in groups for fear of stuttering or blushing or not wanting to sit at a table for a meal with other people. Sufferers of social anxiety often avoid situations because they fear experiencing those anxious feelings. This can result in the situation being magnified into an even greater problem over time.
